What are your goals? How will you know they are the 'right' goals? What are the benchmarks for your goals? That\'s what you\'ve been hearing from so many life coaches who talk about attaining your dreams and making the most of your life. You are taught that setting goals and striving to acheive them is what life is all about. Acheive your dreams today! Great slogan, but let\'s talk about your dreams for a minute. Where did they come from? If you are a Christian, you could say that they came from God. On the other hand, they may have come from watching other people, hearing about their experiences, or from your own deep-seeded desires.
What is the difference between a God-given goal and a world-shaped goal? The difference is that dreams and goals inspired by God offer you great purpose in life. When you begin the process of clarifying your goals in life, ask yourself the following questions.
1. Does this honor God? Your motivation behind your dreams makes a BIG difference in the eyes of God. If it\'s wrapped in sin, be sure to know that your efforts will be burned up in the end. If it honors God it will be rewarded into eternity.
2. Will it benefit only me or others as well? If your goals are only for self-fulfilling purposes, then you are NOT living in your purpose. Purpose is BIGGER than you.
3. When others look at my life will the desire to follow my example or will I have only gone on a lonely walk? If you living life\'s mission that\'s been set before you, others will watch, question, and want to carry the torch long after you are gone.
